Privacy Policy

Privacy-first diary: MyDiary is designed as a personal journal app. Your diary entries are stored locally on your device unless you choose to export them or back them up using a third-party service such as Google Drive.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how MyDiary, provided by Qunovix Technologies ("MyDiary," the "App," "we," "our," or "us"), collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you use the App.

This policy is intended to address common privacy principles, including transparency, data minimization, user choice, security, and rights available under laws such as the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and similar privacy laws where applicable.

2. Information You Create or Store in the App

The App may store the following information locally on your device:

Your diary content is private to your device by default. We do not operate our own server for reading or storing your diary entries.

3. Optional Sign-In, Backup, and Export

If you use Google Drive backup and restore, the App may ask you to sign in with Google and may request access to the Google Drive app data folder. Backups are uploaded to and downloaded from your Google Drive account, and Google processes that information under Google's policies.

If you export entries to files such as TXT, PDF, or backup files, those files may contain diary text and attachments. You are responsible for where you save or share exported files.

4. Information Collected Automatically by Third Parties

The App may use third-party services that can collect device, app, purchase, advertising, diagnostic, or usage information according to their own privacy policies. This may include:

5. Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect

We do not intentionally collect your diary entries on our own servers, and we do not sell your diary content. The App does not require you to publish diary entries publicly.

Please avoid adding highly sensitive personal, financial, medical, or legal information to diary entries unless you understand that the information will be stored on your device and may be included in exports or backups you choose to create.

6. How We Use Information

We use information for the following purposes:

7. Permissions

The App may request permissions depending on your device and the features you use:

You can manage permissions through your device settings. Disabling a permission may limit related features.

8. Third-Party Services

The App may use or interact with the following third-party services:

8.1 Google Mobile Ads / AdMob

The App may display advertisements through Google Mobile Ads. Google may process information to deliver, measure, secure, and improve ads. Learn more at Google's Privacy Policy and Google Advertising Policies.

Where required, the App uses Google's User Messaging Platform to present privacy choices before requesting ads. Depending on your choices and the ads available, Google may serve personalized, non-personalized, or limited ads. When a privacy-options entry is available in the App's settings, you can use it to review or change your advertising privacy choices.

8.2 Firebase Core and Google Analytics for Firebase

The Android version of the App uses Firebase Core and Google Analytics for Firebase, services provided by Google LLC. These services may automatically process a Firebase installation identifier, app-instance information, device and operating-system details, app version, language, approximate geographic information derived from network signals, session information, and events describing how the App is opened and used.

We use this information to measure aggregated usage, understand feature engagement, maintain and improve the App, and evaluate Pro-feature interest. For example, the App may send a generic event when a user opens a Pro upgrade prompt, together with the name of the App feature involved. We do not intentionally send diary titles, diary text, attachments, local passwords, biometric data, profile names, email addresses, exported files, or Google Drive backup contents to Firebase Analytics.

Depending on the device, Google settings, and our Firebase configuration, Analytics data may be associated with identifiers such as a Firebase installation or app-instance identifier and an advertising identifier. Google processes this information under Google's Privacy Policy. More information is available in Firebase Privacy and Security and Firebase's Android data-disclosure documentation.

8.3 Google Sign-In and Google Drive

If you choose Google Drive backup or restore, the App uses Google Sign-In and Google Drive APIs. Your backup is stored in your Google Drive account, normally in an app-specific storage area. Google's terms and privacy policies apply to those services.

8.4 Google Play Billing and App Stores

Purchases, subscriptions, refunds, app updates, app reviews, and store account information are processed by Google Play or the relevant app store provider under their own terms and privacy policies.

8.5 Device Services

The App may use your device's notification system, biometric prompt, file picker, sharing menu, camera, microphone, media library, PDF viewer, browser, and other operating-system features. These are provided by your device or selected third-party apps.

9. Data Storage, Retention, and Deletion

Most diary information is stored locally on your device. Locally stored data remains until you delete entries, empty the recycle bin where available, clear App data through device settings, or uninstall the App.

Exported files and backups remain wherever you saved them until you delete them. Google Drive backups can be managed from your Google account or by using the App's restore/backup features where available.

Firebase and Google Analytics data is retained according to the retention settings configured for our Firebase and Google Analytics properties and Google's applicable policies. Analytics records may be aggregated or de-identified. Clearing the App's data or uninstalling the App stops future collection from that installation but does not necessarily delete information already processed by Google. You may contact us to make a privacy request concerning information under our control; because analytics identifiers are not intended to identify you by name, we may need information from you to determine whether a record can reasonably be associated with your request.

10. Data Sharing

We do not sell your diary entries or personal information. We may share or allow processing of information only in limited situations:

11. Security

We use reasonable measures appropriate for the App's local-first design, such as optional diary lock, biometric access through your device, and limiting our own server-side collection. However, no app, device, backup service, network, or storage method is completely secure.

Please protect your device with a strong device lock and be careful when exporting or sharing diary files.

12. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your country or region, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or request portability of personal information. Because most App data is stored locally, many privacy choices can be handled by editing or deleting entries, clearing App data, deleting exported files, deleting backups, or uninstalling the App.

You may also contact us using the details below.

13. Children's Privacy

MyDiary is a personal journaling app and is not specifically directed to children under 13. If a child uses the App, a parent or guardian should supervise use, manage permissions, and decide whether diary, media, backup, or sharing features are appropriate.

If you believe a child has provided personal information that should be deleted, please contact us. Because most data is stored locally, you can also delete it from the device.

14. International Transfers

Third-party providers may process information in countries other than where you live. Where applicable, those providers are responsible for using legally recognized safeguards for such transfers.

15. Links to Other Websites

The App may include links to app store pages, privacy pages, support pages, or other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external websites.

16. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Please review this policy periodically.
